What drives the cost of a trip

We do not publish a price list. Here is what moves the cost of a trip, so you can tell us what matters.

Every trip we plan is designed around the person travelling, so there is no fixed price to publish. This guide explains what changes the cost, so your first message to us can be useful.

What moves the cost

How long you travel, and in which season.

The kind of places you stay, and how comfortable you want them to be.

How you travel between places: by road, by train where seats are available, or a mix.

Which activities you add, such as safaris or whale watching, and how many.

How many people travel, and whether you share rooms.

Costs set by others

Some costs are not ours to set. Heritage site tickets are set and issued by the Central Cultural Fund, and the tourist ETA is free for travellers from Italy, though you still apply for it online.

  • Tickets for Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and other heritage sites are issued by the Central Cultural Fund, which also offers an online eTicket order. An order is valid for 90 days, the ticket is collected at the counter of the site and is valid for a single entry on the day, and payments are not refunded.

  • Italian nationals can get a tourist ETA free of charge, valid for 30 days with double entry from the date of first arrival. Every visitor still has to apply for the ETA online before travelling. Staying longer needs an extension, which carries a fee.

What a quotation shows

After we have talked it through, we prepare an itinerary and a quotation, reviewed by a person, that show what is included and what is not. Sending a request does not commit you to anything.

How to get a useful estimate

Tell us your approximate dates, who is travelling, what kind of trip feels right and a general feeling for your budget. The Plan my trip form asks for exactly these things, and a general feeling is enough.
